The Vintgar Gorge or Bled Gorge (Blejski vintgar) is a 1.6-kilometer (0.99 mi) gorge in northwestern in the municipalities of Gorje and Bled.
Carved by the Radovna River, it is the continuation of the Radovna Valley.
The stream has created many erosive features such as pools and rapids.
It terminates in the 13 m (43 ft) Šum Falls (‘Noisy falls’) the largest river waterfall in Slovenia.
Photographing Gorenjska region at night encouraged me to spent a night by the river Radovna.
Vintgar Gorge is usually very crowded, especially around the summertime, so night photography was a real bless not only for me, for my tripod as well.
For this occasion I have decided to go with my heavy Velbon. (tripod)
I had a very amusing time photographing lake Bled with my college mr. Uroš Abram, so I invited him again. Splendid!
Walking around Bled Gorge fully equipped at night doesn’t only sound dangerous as it really is.
Stone is very slippery and visibility is close to ‘mute’! Believe me, this is not the place for moon walking.
I stayed by the river all night till the morning.
With the help of a head light I set the camera exposure, turned of the light and waited for my img to appear from the darkness. 80sec exposure wasn’t enough, What fun!
I felt like the long wait was paying off. I got a few winners it was time to pack my gear and slowly go home to my worm bad, when in the last moment I heard the scream.
My friends photo equipment was in the river and not long after so was he. Luckily everything ended well.
What a night! Lost some valuable equipment there but very lucky considering the circumstances.
